Marek Darecki graduated from the Technical University of Rzeszów, Faculty of Aviation.

After university studies he commenced military service in the Polish Air Force, which he completed as a lieutenant.

In 1978 he began his career at WSK Rzeszów, the biggest aerospace company in Poland. Subsequently he took on positions in Engineering and Operations. In 1995 he became Vice President of Operations. He left WSK Rzeszów in 1998 to join Goodrich Poland as President, General Manager.

In 2002 he became President, General Manager of Pratt& Whitney Poland (formerly known as WSK Rzeszów), now part of the Raytheon Corporation. Two years ago, after 20 years of running PWP, he retired. He remains professionally active, providing the regional industry with consulting services.

In 2003, Marek Darecki initiated an innovative concept of the Aviation Valley cluster located in the South-East of Poland and gathering more than 180 companies and organizations. Under his leadership, the Aviation Valley has managed to significantly improve the local business environment and has become a well recognized establishment, both in Poland and in Europe. He continues his leadership role in the organization to this day.

In 2012 he was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of the city of Rzeszow. In 2022 he received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Technical University of Rzeszow.
